Sweet Corn!!!!

With the heat these last few days I always think of summer and BBQ's. So sweet corn is just thing to make a good BBQ great. Unfortunately it won't be ready for a while but here is a sneak peek at what our sweet corn looked like around May 20th. It should be ready for your dinner plate in early August!

Round bales

Last week Darrell and the crew cut hay to make round bales. It always smells so good. The kids call them "giant marshmallows". It looks so pretty too. This was the first cutting of hay this year.

Working the fieds

Bob says that the tractor is his escape, his time to relax. So naturally he is like a little kid in the candy store in spring time. He loves the different colors the soil turn and the different textures as he prepares the field for seed. This is Bob getting a field of sweet corn ready to plant.

Lucy Jo, Bob's 4th daughter is 21 months and LOVES the tractor as much as he does. Here she is wanting to ride with daddy and trying to convince Tyler that it is his job to take her to daddy.

This is the sweet corn after it has just popped through the soil. If you look close enough you can see the row of little green sprouts.

Maze Ground

Our corn maze is not planted yet but the ground where it will go is being prepared. Here is a view of where the maze will be (and surrounding fields) from the driveway of the farm.

This is the same piece of land looking from the road the hay ride takes you down to get to the maze.

This is a shot from the far corner of our field looking up towards the house. You can't really see the maze ground from here but it is a nice picture!

This is an extra bonus, two of Bob's daughters (Abigail and Ellie Mae) and their friend Heidi wishing the river wasn't so high so that they could throw rocks in it. Instead it is all still sand and that wasn't as much fun!

Bob and his family

Welcome to the Bob's Corn blog! We often get asked what is new, what is our history and how the corn is doing. We will attempt to keep you connected to our farm through this blog. First off let us introduce ourselves. Bob farms the land he was born and raised on. It is his parents property but they share well! He has been married for 9 years and he and his wife Sarah have 5 daughters! Kylie the "accountant" is 13, Abigail the "corn picker" is 7, Ellie the "tour guide" is almost 6, Lucy the "tractor driver" is 20 months and Jorja, well she doesn't have a "job" yet she is just 5 months old.

We are happy you found us, check back for more updates often!
